Ezra Levin, co-founder of Indivisible, asserted that Tuesday's wins, after widespread demonstrations, were confirmation that assertive and non-compliant governance was the method to counter the ideology. "The democratic resistance movement is established," he wrote.

That determined approach extended to Congress, where political representatives are resisting to provide necessary support to end the shutdown – now the longest federal shutdown in US history – unless the opposing party continues medical coverage support: a confrontational tactic they had resisted as recently as recently.
