Exploring an Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Poop on a Quest to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and players have encountered plenty of engaging creations from small studios. Yet, one stands out for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this retro-inspired jumping adventure lets you play a character that is truly a turd striving to make its way to a restroom. In case you're wondering, "Unko" translates to "poop."

The gameplay is easy to grasp: press a single jump button. In 150 challenges, battle mini-bosses and access a market to purchase outfits for your fecal avatar.

Time your movements precisely, as a wrong move requires restarting the level. Leap on air pockets to hurl your character upward, traverse disappearing ledges, and activate triggers to unlock hidden paths. Collect UN-KOINS to purchase tougher levels where the action intensifies.

Graphically, the experience boasts vibrant environments and a killer music score. The simple graphics with shifting abstract forms may remind fans of beloved games like Earthbound.

Although difficult to think of other games where you control a coiled turd, video games have long featured fecal matter. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players make explosives from character waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as fertilizer. Unsurprisingly, fecal references shows up a lot in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its silly idea, Unko Technica has already garnered notable accolades, including winning at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. This trial version is available now on Steam, with the full game planned to launch on Steam on November 19.
