Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Tasks Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered widespread acclaim, especially for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, live player figures peaked at nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over several of the title's hardest challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.

Gamers have begun using custom matches made via Battlefield Portal to complete them, emphasizing just how grueling these challenges have become.

Comprehending BF6 Tasks

Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, as opposed to the frequently updated day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four classes of assignments, but although many only reward outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the only way of getting 12 of the 41 key firearms present in the game.

Some of these locked weapons may soon make their appearance on rankings for the finest arms in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry across Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious a number of these challenges are. One user pointed out one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This task is so atrocious and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it has significantly fewer advantages in battle as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.

Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you prefer to be. The same user also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.

Another Overly Demanding Mission

One more community participant highlighted another ridiculously tough challenge, within the sniper rifle category to obtain the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with long-range weapons

This is tough enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at such a long range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game at present, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and perhaps a classic map if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.

The Bypass

There is a workaround though: the portal. The custom game creator is a feature that enables you to create personalized matches on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This means you can bypass the intended method… but it isn't truly in line with the spirit of the game.

Yet, if doing the challenges in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for finishing these in a personal session so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Future Adjustments

It is expected if some of these assignments are adjusted to be less difficult in the next few updates, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply will never acquire the restricted guns.

Currently, the community continues to voice their opinions on these challenging in-game tasks, hoping for a less arduous overall gameplay in coming revisions.
