Atletico's Coach Expresses Apology Following Confrontation involving Anfield Spectators

The Spanish Outfit manager Diego Simeone has now voiced remorse regarding the confrontation involving Anfield fans—however claimed it had been triggered due to nonstop verbal abuse by those home spectators

He continued: “Coaches are as figures where we are standard-bearers, so in the same manner how work against discrimination and abuse in venues, we must also advocate for coaches, regarding the insults we receive throughout the whole game”

“It's not easy to work in the position we occupy and facing taunts throughout the whole game. I witnessed the situation from far away after Van Dijk’s header. I turned, the insults carried on, and honestly, I have emotions”

When asked about what the nature of the insults had been, he answered: “Honestly I must say I don’t remember in detail. I’d rather not to enter into those details”

“The thing I feel is that I need to uphold my composure. I need to understand how to tolerate everything occurs around the technical area, and know I don’t have the power to fix people’s behavior”

“My response is not justifiable though have you experienced what it’s like to be abused for the whole match? I would urge Liverpool to tackle this issue and that when they find the person responsible, they face consequences”

The altercation occurred at the end following a frantic encounter where Liverpool scored two times within the first six minutes, through Robertson as well as the Egyptian forward, before Atletico fought back
